The Hasler Gallery has been established to support creative practice in Barnet through the exhibition of work made by creative practitioners associated with institutions based in the area, in particular Middlesex University & the Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture.
The Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture is based in Beaufort Park, Colindale, and is part of Middlesex University. The collections include wallpapers, textiles, designs, books, catalogues and magazines from the late nineteenth to the late twentieth century, and is comprised predominately of the archive of Arthur Silver’s Silver Studio and that of graphic designer Charles Hasler.
MoDA is a unique resource housed within the Borough. Formerly an open access museum with permanent display, the collections are now only accessible through appointment and through specially curated touring exhibitions. It now seeks opportunities to raise awareness of its collections through projects that explore and present those collections in new ways, and to new audiences. As a working archive MoDA also seeks to support student and graduate design practice, particularly that of Middlesex students.
